Children, especially small children, often experience symptoms such as diarrhea and runny nose, accompanied by a significant or not very high fever. Vomiting can also join these negative symptoms. Many parents are interested in what it means to have a baby at the same time as a liquid stool. Such symptoms can be provoked for two reasons. This is either a cutting tooth, or the development of a viral enteric infection in the baby's body.
The most dangerous are diarrhea caused by infectious agents. With them, the runny nose, diarrhea and temperature are accompanied by general weakness and apathy. During the development of the baby this ailment can quickly become dehydrated, as the body with a liquid stool and vomiting urges loses a large amount of water. Often the snot in children is preceded by the appearance of diarrhea. In this case, many parents consider bowel dysfunction a complication of the flu or ARI.
Diarrhea and runny nose in a child are usually recorded during periods of absence of mass outbreaks of respiratory infections. Despite the variety of pathogens that can provoke this pathology, it proceeds almost always the same. The very first symptoms announcing its occurrence are fever, snot and cough.
Infections causing diarrhea and runny nose
There are several groups of pathogenic microorganisms that can provoke such symptoms in children. All the signs that appear as a result of the defeat of the organism of babies by these viruses are similar in general outline, but they have some differences. To more accurately determine what kind of microorganism caused the temperature, runny nose, diarrhea in the child, it is necessary to understand pathogens:
- If the cause of the disease becomes an intestinal infection of a bacterial type, it will flow at a temperature not exceeding 38 degrees. Most often during this pathology, children develop vomiting and a mucus of greenish color appears in which blood inclusions appear in severe forms of the disease. In addition to the common cold and diarrhea that are always present in this disease, there may appear tenesmus - painful impulses for defecation;
- In the event that a rotavirus infection provokes the occurrence of such a symptom, in addition to the yellowish watery stool, children may have multiple vomiting and high fever. All this symptomatology proceeds in acute form and begins very sharply;
- Enterovirus diseases. They are diagnosed most difficult. Their flow is very sharp. The clinical picture of this pathology is different, which makes it difficult to diagnose. The main signs are weakness, rapid pulse, runny nose, nasopharyngeal inflammation, diarrhea, headaches and muscle pains;
- There is also an adenoviral infection. With pathology of this type, catarrhal phenomena such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat are very pronounced, but intestinal( diarrhea), appear only at a certain stage of the disease.
Functional disorders of the digestive organs, accompanied by snot and cough, can be caused by a large number of viruses. They are very dangerous, as they can affect not only the respiratory and digestive organs, provoking the appearance of a liquid stool against the background of snot, but also the central nervous system, skin, muscles, heart. From all this it follows that in the case when the kids have a runny nose accompanied by diarrhea, you should immediately contact a specialist to identify the true cause that provoked the disease. This will help start timely and adequate treatment, which will lead to complete recovery of the crumbs.
