On the presented CT scans (sections), direct and indirect signs of a brain tumor are determined:
- The presence of a pathological formation with areas of calcification in the center (white islets), after administration of a contrast agent (right, white arrow) the tumor accumulates more of it (its blood supply, as a rule, is more intense than the surrounding fabrics).
- Displacement of the median structures of the brain, compression and change in the shape and size of the ventricles (in the figure, these are dark oblong stripes).
- Swelling of the tissues surrounding the neoplasm.
The tactics of managing the patient after establishing the fact of the presence of a pathological formation includes hospitalization, puncture biopsy and clarification of the morphological variant of the neoplasm. Depending on the morphology, treatment can be operative, radiation, chemotherapy or mixed. The prognosis depends on the stage of the disease and the severity of functional disorders.
