To select a method of treating disorders in the digestive system proceed from the accepted division of the stomach into divisions:
- Cardiac, located near the heart.
- The body of the stomach, in which the process of digestion of food takes place directly.
- Pilorus, consisting of an antrum and a gatekeeper.
The importance of the antrum or antrum lies in the fact that, located in the lower part of the organ, it serves as the boundary between the stomach and intestine. In case of violations of its regulatory function, food can remain in the stomach for a long time, provoking an ulcer, or vice versa, getting into the intestines is not sufficiently digested, which is the cause of dangerous pathological changes. One of the most common pathologies of the antrum is polyps, which account for 59% of all benign formations on the epithelium of the stomach.
Polyp antrum
Polyps in the antrum are divided into several groups:
- Adenomas, which in their nature are precancerous.
- Inflammation polyps in the stomach that promote the occurrence of symptoms.
- Specific species, the so-called polyets of Peitz-Jägers.
The main causes of the disease include hereditary predisposition. The incidence of polyp antrum increases significantly with age exceeding 50 years and for people suffering from chronic gastritis. The growth of the antrum epithelium cell is diagnosed using an endoscope or an X-ray method.
As a rule, because of an unclear clinical picture, this disease is revealed when addressing a doctor about the aching and dull pains in the epigastric region, the decrease in appetite, with belching, nausea, and heartburn. The "replenishment defects" revealed during radiology are round or oval in shape. When a build-up on the stem falls out into the duodenum, the "replenishment effect" is defined as "annular".In the case of a "villous" growth due to the penetration of the contrast suspension used in fluoroscopy into the villi, the contours become blurred with the edentified edges.
The greatest information about the polyp in the antrum part of the stomach is given by endoscopic examination, taking a sample for biopsy, combined with radiology. In this case it is possible not only to see even very small growths, but also to determine their structure and propensity to degeneration.
Treatment of polyp of the antral part of the stomach
Given that basically all polyps located in the antrum, regardless of type, have a high risk of becoming a malignant tumor, only surgery is used as a treatment. If the neoplasm is benign, then a polypectomy is done through the gastroscopy. The procedure for carrying out endoscopic polypectomy consists of several stages:
- Locating and examining the antrum of the stomach by the endoscopic method.
- A metal loop is inserted and gradual cut-off is carried out.
- The remains of the stalk on the mucosa are excised or electrocoagulated.
- Remove the cut-off formation.
- Carrying out of the constant control of dynamics of a condition of a mucous membrane after operation.
If malignant growth of the enlarged mucosal cells is established, gastrectomy or gastroectomy is performed. The rapid removal of polyps from the antral department does not mean getting rid of it forever. Their tendency to relapse can prevent the maintenance of a correct lifestyle, balanced nutrition. Patients who underwent the operation must necessarily undergo a gastroendoscopic examination on a regular basis.
