Anauran is a combined drug for topical use. It is used mainly for the treatment of ear diseases, it is used to prevent complications after operations and various surgical interventions on other ENT organs.

Composition, form of release, packing

These are ear drops, produced in bottles-droppers from the darkened glass. The standard volume is 25 ml.

Packages are made of cardboard. The composition contains:

  • Polymyxin B sulfate 10 thousand IU.Has a bacteriostatic effect on most bacteria.
  • Neomycin - 3.75 thousand IU.Aminoglycoside with a wide range of action.
  • Lidocaine hydrochloride. Eliminates pain, has a local anesthetic effect.

Additives include benzalkonium chloride, glycerol, propylene glycol, purified water.

Indications for use

Anaurean is one of the few drugs that can be used in the treatment of chronic and acute otitis media. Assigned before the appearance of a ruptured eardrum. Drops can be used for postoperative complications, for tympanoplasty, anthotomy, and some other procedures.

Contraindications

The drug should not be used with:

  • hypersensitivity to any component drops,
  • perforation of the tympanic membrane,
  • treatment with antibiotics that adversely affect hearing.

With caution should be used with increased flaking of external ear tissues or with hyperemia.

Mechanism of action

The drug has antibacterial and analgesic action. Neomycin has a disastrous effect on most types of pathogenic microorganisms, but it has an insignificant effect on Streptococcus spp.

Polymyxin has a potent bactericidal action, but it has no activity on fungi and Gram-positive cocci. It performs a local-irritant function. Lidocaine quickly eliminates pain and itching.

No pharmacokinetic studies were performed. This is due to the fact that it is intended solely for local use. The appearance of systemic effects is unlikely.

Instruction for use

Anuran is used locally. During the procedure, it is necessary to tilt the head in the opposite side. Using a pipette, 4-5 drops are ordered three times per day. Children are prescribed 2-3 drops with the same multiplicity.

After inserting the drug into the outer ear, fix the position of the head for a few minutes to better move the drops to the department in which there is an inflammatory process.

Side effects of

Systemic effects do not appear due to low doses of drug use. With prolonged treatment or failure to comply with the dosage, it is possible to develop systemic effects, for example, ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity due to neomycin absorption.

Possible development of local reactions:

  • peeling of the external auditory canal,
  • hyperemia,
  • pruritus.

These symptoms disappear when the drug is withdrawn.

Overdose

Information on reactions due to overdose is not known. Perhaps the development of local reactions.

Anuran is used exclusively for the treatment of ear disorders. With persistent infection, local treatment is supplemented with a systemic intake of antibacterial agents. Long-term use without the supervision of a doctor may cause the development of superinfection resistant to the drug microflora.

In children under one year, medicinal drops are used only in case of emergency under medical supervision. The same applies to women during pregnancy. In the lactation period, risks are first assessed, and then course treatment is conducted.

Drug Interaction

Not recommended for use with:

  • Nethylmicin
  • Streptomycin,
  • Amikacin,
  • Gantamicin,
  • Multimycin.

Together with Anauran, these preparations intensify ototoxic effect.

Many patients are satisfied with the drug, since the desired therapeutic effect is created with the classical dosage indicated in the instructions. It is noted that the remedy is well tolerated by children, it relieves painful symptoms.

Negative feedback is rare, often associated with side effects that occur due to a violation of the admission scheme. Some patients with hypersensitivity on the third day or later have an itch, which is the result of fungal attack.

But the likelihood of developing candidiasis is higher if antibiotic suspensions or tablets are used simultaneously with topical administration of drops.
