Ulcerative ileocolitis

One of the serious forms of Crohn's disease is ulcerative ileacolith. It develops in the patient in the rectum and colon and is a necrotizing inflammation of their mucous membranes. This disease is characterized by numerous complications, both systemic and local. The emergence of this pathology is not fully understood, but the opinion of most specialists is reduced to the autoimmune nature of the disease.

The characteristic symptoms of ileocolitis are similar to other inflammatory bowel pathologies. The most common are the following:

  • Intestinal bleeding, which is expressed in the presence of feces of bloody inclusions, often mixed with mucus, and in severe cases with pus;
  • Cramping, severe pain localized in the left ileal region;
  • Disturbances of the stool, manifested by mushy diarrhea.

Among the nonspecific signs of ulcerative ileolitis usually distinguish such as general weakness of the patient and pale skin, subfebrile, dystrophic weight loss. During the initial examination, with palpation of the abdomen, painful sensations are revealed with a place of localization in the projection of the large intestine.

A third of the patients diagnosed with this type of Crohn's disease, like ileocolitis, are affected by the following symptoms in the anus:

  • Rectal abscesses( festering in the anus) that cause severe pain and fever;
  • Anal fistulas, from which pus and mucus flows;
  • Cracks and ulcers on the sphincter, causing pain and bleeding during defecation.

In addition, with ileocolitis, the muscles located at the end of the rectum and the anal sphincter tissue have a pronounced swelling.

The disease always proceeds according to the chronic type, with a frequent change of periods of exacerbations and remissions. During the onset of recurrence of ileocolitis, patients are assigned bed rest and 1-2 days of complete starvation, in order to calm the inflamed mucous membrane. Further, drug therapy with the use of curative microclysters is recommended. It is mandatory to prescribe vitamin therapy and a diet with high protein content.

From drugs in the intensification of pain, intravenous or intramuscular injection of antispasmodics and pain medications. During the remission of the disease, it is necessary to comply with the appropriate diet, which allows you to extend it for years.
