1 Description of the pathology of

The appearance of multiple sclerosis in man is still not fully understood. Like many diseases, the cause is made up of various factors. These include:

• heredity;
• geographical position of residence;
• correct power supply;
• susceptibility to a patient with viral diseases;
• deficiency of sunlight( vitamin D);
• smoking;
• stress;
• reduced immunity.

In simple terms, the onset of the development of multiple sclerosis can be described as a cocktail of bacteria and viruses. Its basis can be a combination of several factors listed above. That is, if your weakened immune system is loaded with a virus of any disease and harmful factors, then the likelihood of developing multiple sclerosis is high. Until recently, scientists and physicians have identified geographical belts with the frequent occurrence of this disease. It was believed that the southern regions are less likely to have the disease, but by now the incidence of pathology in the south, although less than in the north, is also quite high.

Symptoms of multiple sclerosis are often considered partial blindness( decreased visual acuity, the appearance of haze in front of the eyes).It can appear on one or both eyes. There may also be a violation of oculomotor reflexes, strabismus, nystagmus( when the eye begins to tremble at a very high rate, jumps), various types of paralysis of the facial nerve, pyramidal reflexes. These reflexes include the following:

• flexion of fingers on the irritation of the palm surface( fast);
• flexion of fingers when a neurologist strikes with a medical mallet on the process of the radius( styloid process);
• cut and bend of the thumb when compressing the remaining fingers( passively);
• extension of the toes when compressing the gastrocnemius muscle;
• cramps of the toes when bending the legs in the knee joint;
• extension of the toes when a neurologist strikes the heel of the patient with a special hammer;
• clone of the foot;
• synkinesis.

Moreover, it can manifest itself:

• in women - menstrual cycle disorder;
• in men - impotence;
• fatigue;
• depression;
• very rarely epileptic seizures.

The flow of multiple sclerosis in patients almost always occurs with different frequency( waves), there is exacerbation and remission.

After a few years in 90% of cases, a reappearance occurs. The extent of damage to the nervous system, the rate of development of irreversible consequences of multiple sclerosis is very wide among patients. There are cases of mild disease with calm and stability in the tens of years. Often, other viruses and many external factors become an irritant for the progression of the disease.

Fault diagnosis of multiple sclerosis until recently was performed according to symptom, their frequency, finding the affected area of ​​white matter in the spinal cord and brain. Echoencephaloscopy - ultrasound diagnosis, which allows to estimate the extent of the disease. This method guarantees 50-60% accuracy of the diagnosis, in other cases an additional examination is needed.

Magnetic resonance imaging( MRI) confirms the appearance of plaques of multiple sclerosis in 90% of cases. But this will not mean that this pathology became the reason. Many neurological diseases can manifest themselves in this way. In this case, too, additional tests will be needed. Analyzes of cerebral fluid and analyzes of the immune system will help to establish a diagnosis.

Treatment for multiple sclerosis due to the uncertainty of the origin of such diseases is carried out individually for each patient. Select drugs based on the manifestations of the disease and its intensity. Anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and pathogenetic therapies are conducted.
