The pancreas is an organ, simultaneously, of the digestive and endocrine system located in the region between the stomach and the spine with a displacement relative to the stomach to the left. In a lying position, the place of its dislocation is directly under the stomach, hence the name. In a normal state, the pancreas is not probed.
This second largest organ( after the liver) in the abdominal region of a person has a transverse orientation and is conditionally divided into three parts: a head with a neck, a body, a tail. The extreme right position at level 1 and 2 of the vertebrae of the lumbar region occupies the widest part - the head, which, twisting downwards, closely adjoins the horseshoe-shaped bend of the duodenum. The middle body and the caudal part deviate to the left and upwards so that the tail passes over the left kidney, and its end occupies the present position to the gates of the spleen just at the level of 11 and 12 of the lower pectoral ribs. The area of projection of the pancreas to the anterior abdominal wall is above the navel by 5-10 cm.
The geometry of the body's body resembles a triangular prism, has three edges and three surfaces: the
- front surface "looks" at the stomach, its right, protruding part near the head formsglandal tubercle;
- the posterior surface closely touches the abdominal aorta, the solar plexus, to the left adjoins the left kidney and the left adrenal gland;
- the lower surface is located under the mesentery of the transverse colon;to its left part adjoin a site of this intestine and a loop of thin, and to the middle adjoins a duodenumerous bend.
In which side is the pancreas?
During attacks of pancreatitis in humans, severe pain concentrates in the left abdomen, namely at the midpoint of an imaginary line connecting the navel to the center of the arc of the left rib. It seems that the diseased organ is in the left side. This is a deceptive sensation. This localization indicates that the tail region of the pancreas is inflamed, which is closer to the left side.
Specific retroperitoneal position of the organ when one third of the head is on the right side of the central axis and two thirds( body and tail) on the left, often leading to painful manifestations in both the right hypochondrium and the epigastric region, and even behind the sternum. The focus of inflammation determines the "geography" of the painful zone. Therefore, with total inflammation of the pancreas, the pain is spilled or has a shingling character and can be given anywhere, especially often in the back.
