Atrophic gastritis is a disease of the mucous membranes of the stomach, which is accompanied by the death of the secretory glands that produce gastric juice. Thus, dying cells will be replaced by simple cells that are not adapted to performing secretory functions, which will produce mucus instead of gastric juice.
The diet with atrophic gastritis is almost the most important factor in the treatment of the presented disease. That is, the treatment of atrophic gastritis without adherence to a diet prescribed by a doctor will be futile. The most important role is played by the diet in the case when the disease becomes chronic, and the treatment of the chronic form consists in reducing the number of symptoms. In some cases, gastroenterologists give a referral to dietitians to make a certain menu for every day for the patient.
If the patient does not follow the recommendations, then treatment with subatrophic gastritis will be unsuccessful. If the disease has passed into a chronic form, then about not adhering to the compiled menu in general and there can be no question.
Diet at an atrophic type should consist not only in observance of these requirements, but also in that the patient should increase the amount of dairy products and reduce the number of alcoholic beverages in his menu.
It should also be noted that the diet with subatrophic gastritis must necessarily lead to a decrease in the level of acid in the stomach of the patient and reduce the burden on the affected shell.
Menu with atrophic gastritis
With subatrophic gastritis, the patient's menu should not contain foods that are digested long by the stomach, for example, raw vegetables, baked pastries, wiry meat products, fat, smoked products, black bread and much more.
In the menu with atrophic gastritis should include such products:
- lean fish;
- still mineral water;
- vegetable oil;
- lean meat;
- butter;
- non-acidic fruit;
- cottage cheese;
- kefir;
- yesterday's bread;
- milk soups;
- boiled porridge;
- light honey;
- steamed omelette;
- jelly;
- non-acidic fruit drinks and juices diluted with water;
- macaroni;
- crackers;
- cocoa;
- egg sauces;
- jam.
Please note that with an atrophic gastritis diet will be more correct if the menu for the patient is made by a nutritionist. Why is it better to entrust a dietician? The professional will be able to choose the right menu, because he will know the level of preservation of the functions of secretion.
Diet with increased acidity level
With this form, the activity of gastric juice secretion is markedly reduced, therefore the menu should be made in accordance with such requirements:
- completely eliminate food with fibers that can damage the walls of the stomach. A clear example are such products: oatmeal, wiry meat, turnip, radish, fish and much more;
- refuse to use such products, which can lead to an increase in the amount of gastric juice, for example, carbonated and alcoholic beverages, coffee, citrus, cabbage, black bread and much more;
- completely eliminate from your diet hot and very cold food. The temperature of the food consumed by the patient should be approximately between fifteen and sixty degrees Celsius. Hot food is forbidden to eat because it can lead to irritation of the walls of the stomach, and cold, because it requires a large expenditure of energy during digestion.
