Trichostrongyloidosis is a helminth disease that can occur in humans. The causative agent of trichostrongylosis is the nematodes of the family Trichostrongylidae - these are small round worms, the length of which does not exceed one centimeter. Those helminths that "live" in Russia, have some anatomical features: they do not have a mouth capsule, males have a bursa with lateral lobes. Adult individuals parasitize in the duodenum and in the upper parts of the small intestine. The life cycle of the causative agent of trichostrongylosis begins in the external environment. Eggs ripen in the soil at a certain temperature and high humidity threshold. After this, larvae appear, they pass two moults before entering the host's body. They are able to move in the soil. The source of infection for humans are edible herbs( sorrel, salads, greens).

Any of us is susceptible to trichostrongylosis. They are infected by adults and children. Children with a helminth disease get sick more often than adults. Seasonality is characteristic of the described disease. Outbreaks of helminthiosis occur in the summer. In the risk group, everyone - who lives outside the city and leads an active agricultural way of life.

Trichostrongyloidosis has a long incubation period( 20-25 days). As a rule, the first clinical signs appear exactly after the indicated time. A sick person can complain of a dyspeptic disorder. These are abdominal pain( upper part of the peritoneum), nausea, constant vomiting, stool disorders, skin itching, sleep disturbance. Children suffering from trichostrongilez become unnecessarily irritable and moody.

A full part of the treatment of trichostrongylosis is comprehensive prevention. It consists of several principles. To prevent the described helminthiasis the following rules help:

  • First, it is necessary to perform de-worming of all agricultural and livestock.
  • Secondly, it is important to systematically disinfect the environment.
  • Third, we can not neglect the rules of personal hygiene.

To treat an already sick person, only complex therapy consisting of three components helps. The patient is prescribed antiparasitic drugs, etiotropic therapy is performed. If trichostrongyloidosis occurs against the background of anemia, the therapeutic regimens include iron preparations.
