When a person begins to suffer pain in the abdomen, in many cases, such symptoms indicate the formation in this part of the body of tumor-like defects - polyps. They have recently been increasingly diagnosed in patients of any age, from young enough to older people.
Where exactly can there be polyps? Very numerous appearances of them are noted in the abdominal cavity, namely in organs belonging to the gastrointestinal tract.
The formations in the patient's abdomen are the outgrowths from the mucosa to the free space of the hollow body of the organ. Almost always with increased growth, they lead to oncology of those organs of the digestive tract, where they are located.
In its structure, the polyps in the abdominal cavity can be spherical or mushroom-shaped, pinkish-cherry or purple-red, and their surface is usually granular, bumpy, smooth or velvety.
For the most part, the negative effects of polyps are exposed to such digestive organs that are located directly in the stomach of the patient, namely the stomach and intestines. Neoplasms can be dangerous for their growth.
And not only the degeneration into malignant neoplasms, but also the fact that increasing in size these defects are able to completely block the narrow passages present in these organs, and thereby create an obstruction of the masses in the process of digestion.
Also those places in the abdomen of the person where the polyps are located, very often begin to bleed, as food passing through the gastrointestinal tract damages them mechanically.
Symptoms of polyps in the abdomen
In the initial stage of development they are small enough in size and practically no signs of their existence do not show. Therefore, this pathology is difficult to recognize in the early stages, when the treatment can be quite effective.
But with the onset of their growth, the symptoms accompanying the development of these tumor-like defects are becoming more pronounced. For the most part, the polyps located in the digestive organs of the abdomen exhibit the following symptoms:
- In the abdomen, there are painful sensations that are given in the lower back;
- When the polyps prolapse, the patient experiences loss of appetite;
- Accompanies their development of strong and drooling, as well as unstable stools.
For polyps of the intestine, especially when they are branched and go into the duodenum, the pain that begins under the chest and spreads throughout the stomach is common. Gastric neoplasms are characterized by vomitive reflexes with presence in undigested masses with inclusions of bloody discharge.
For these specific features, it is possible to presumably determine where abnormal abdominal defects are located, and if this assumption is confirmed by the diagnosis, choose the most appropriate method of therapy.
A universal method of treating polyps in the abdomen is a surgical method or cauterization, which is performed when benign neoplasms of the abdominal cavity are small.
In any case, this pathology is subject to immediate removal, as it tends to grow rapidly enough, and with it to degenerate into a cancerous tumor. That is why people who are characterized by the appearance of such neoplasms on genetic grounds or as a result of conducting an incorrect way of life should regularly carry out diagnostics in order not to miss the moment of their appearance.
