The pancreas is a very important organ of the digestive system, responsible for continuous qualitative metabolism and the production of digestive enzymes. The main function of the pancreas is the production of hormones. However, sometimes, due to congenital or acquired diseases, its functions may be insufficient, and work - reduced.
Symptoms and signs of impaired function and malfunction of the pancreas:
- intense pain syndrome in the left side of the abdomen, radiating to the heart;
- dyspeptic disorders: nausea, vomiting with an admixture of blood and bile;
- polyuria( increased urine output);
- signs of blood clotting;
- bloating, constipation;
- clarification of feces, staining of urine in a dark color( with an increase in the glans head);
- increase in liver size;
- sensation of dry mouth;
- general weakness;
- formation on the skin of the belly of blue spots;
- bags under the eyes, reddening of the mucous membrane of the inner eyelid, etc.
The appearance of pain in case of pancreatic function disorders and dyspeptic manifestations are the most characteristic signs. Painful sensations can be permanent, paroxysmal or shingles. They arise, as a rule, after consuming fatty and spicy food, alcoholic drinks and can be given to the left shoulder blade, epigastric region, ribs and to the heart area.
Most of the violations in the pancreas develop when inflammation occurs( pancreatitis), in which the outflow of secretion practically ceases, thus causing the absorption of enzymes by the tissue of the organ itself. At the same time, the iron becomes inflamed, necrosis and swelling of its tissues takes place. This clinical picture is typical for acute pancreatitis. Pain in the acute stage of this disease is very intense, and it is localized in the epigastric and subcostal areas. Dyspeptic syndrome in this case is strongly pronounced - frequent vomiting and incessant nausea occur. In patients with acute pancreatitis, hypotension and increased heart rate occur, which requires immediate hospitalization and first-aid treatment.
Symptoms and signs in the chronic inflammatory process of the pancreas and the dysfunction are less intense. Enzymes are produced in small amounts, as a result of which food is poorly digested, metabolism is disrupted, gas formation in the intestine is increased, there are disorders of the stool. If there is a lack of production of pancreatic hormones, the concentration of sugar in the blood can increase.
The work of the body can be restored by rigorous adherence to the rules of special diets, refusal of alcoholic beverages, calm emotional background and adequate, timely treatment.
