No-spa - a popular antispasmodic, which experts appoint to children and adults. It is widely used in kidney pathologies, including acute ones. But does the drug treat the disease?
No-spa for kidney disease
Familiar to all tablets of yellow color with biconvex surface are available in blisters or in a vial with a dispenser. Also on sale there is a preparation in ampoules of 40 mg / 2 ml for intramuscular and intravenous administration.

No-spa is a myotropic antispasmodic that reduces the tone of smooth muscles, thereby relieving pain and spasms in the internal organs. The effectiveness of the drug in kidney disease is very high - painful sensations lose their intensity in just a few minutes. But-shpa helps and with pathologies of the genitourinary system - cystitis, urethritis.
Principle of operation of
No-shpa, more precisely its acting component, is close to other antispasmodics by its chemical structure, but in comparison with many it exhibits a prolonged and stronger effect. The effect of the drug on the kidneys is due to the fact that drotaverin suppresses a special enzyme - phosphodiesterase 4. Decrease in the activity of this enzyme causes a temporary malfunction in the intake of calcium tissue. As a result, there is a withdrawal of spasm, relaxation of smooth muscle fibers. Tablets have no effect on the central and peripheral nervous system, acting at the level of smooth muscles.
Usually, the drug is prescribed for acute or moderate pain in the kidney area as a symptomatic( analgesic) remedy, and its effectiveness manifests itself in spasms of any origin( muscle, nerve).Nevertheless, there are also therapeutic results for kidney pain from taking No-shpa.
No-shpa does not have a negative effect on the heart and blood vessels, so it can be used even in patients with cardiac pathologies( exception - severe heart failure).The medicine is prescribed to children from a year old, adults with various nephrologic pathologies accompanied by spastic conditions.
Application for various diseases
The drug is indicated for diseases of the urinary system, including:
- Acute renal colic;

In renal colic
Renal colic occurs in different cases - as in the movement of the stone against the background of urolithiasis, and in inflammatory pathologies of the kidneys. It is a sharp pain in the kidney area( one, rarely - two), extending to the lower back, accompanied by increased pressure, nausea, vomiting( not always).But-shpa as a powerful antispasmodic is used when in kidney colic kidneys are hurt for the rapid elimination of spasm and to minimize pain.
Because of the high risk of having a surgical pathology, it is undesirable to stop such pain without calling a doctor - taking tablets is only a temporary measure before an ambulance arrives. It is acceptable to take Baralgin or No-shpu. Dosage - 80 mg - 2 tablets( maximum single dose).In a hospital, a patient with renal colic usually is injected intravenously in a volume of 40-80 mg.
