Harmful habits, unhealthy and irregular meals, stresses and bad ecology have led to a significant part of the population suffering from any kind of gastritis.
Granular antral gastritis is one of the initial forms of the hypertrophic type. In this disease the mucous membrane of the antrum is covered with small outgrowths of an oval form from a few mm to 1 cm, resembling grains. Most often this diagnosis occurs in men over forty.
Causes of granular antral gastritis
The causes of the disease are:
- hereditary predisposition;
- adverse environment effect;
- unhealthy eating habits;
- craze for alcohol and smoking;
- infection with Helicobacteria.
Symptoms and diagnosis of granular antral gastritis
In the initial stage the disease passes without significant symptoms. The disease manifests itself when an antrum of the small growths forms a multitude of folds on the antrum mucosa. Between them accumulates gastric juice and mucus, food heavily passes into the intestines. In a consequence, inflammation leads to the appearance of edema and destruction of the mucosa, a decrease in the production of gastric juice and a disruption of protein metabolism in the body.
Characteristic symptoms appear with exacerbation of inflammation and do not differ from signs of usual gastritis. They can manifest:
- with attacks of nausea and vomiting;
- pain in the upper abdomen;
- decreased appetite;
- by salivary secretion;
- apathy and general weakness.
Diagnosis of the disease at an early stage is possible only with the help of instrumental methods.
Treatment of granular antral gastritis
Treatment of granular gastritis antrum hardly differs from therapy with its other varieties.
It is necessary to refuse strong spirits, smoking, spicy, fatty, fried and canned food. It is recommended to organize frequent meals in small portions.
In the case of Helicobacteria, a course of antibiotics is prescribed.
It is necessary to give enough time for sleep and rest, to avoid nervous and physical stresses.
If you start treatment of the disease, there is a danger of complications. Hypertrophy of the mucous membrane can cause bleeding and even lead to the development of malignant neoplasms, so when suspicion of granular antral gastritis is required to consult specialists.
