Giardiasis is a disease caused by the simplest flagellar Lamblia Intestinalis( pictured). He settles in the small intestine of man, feeds on parietal juices and multiplies by the method of pair division. The scientists found out that this process, which takes place inside the patient's body, takes only 15-20 minutes. This is why a large part of the intestine of an adult patient is affected in a short time. Most often, lambliasis is asymptomatic, but even if he does not manifest himself in any way, he still detrimental to the health of the infected person.
The first characteristic signs of Giardiasis can be found, if you learn, very carefully listen to the reactions of your body. Flagellar protozoa, settling in the small intestine, are taken into the rim of the villious mucous, similar in shape to the brushes. It is there that, through enzymes and bile, the intensive processes of the breakdown of proteins, carbohydrates and fats occur. The following symptoms are possible in adults:
- Lamblias feed on juxtile juices, rich in partial digestion products. They do this with the help of a central pair of bundles. Mycoscopic parasites can pump out useful micronutrients directly from the small brush of the villi of the small intestine. Such an intervention disrupts all metabolic processes( membrane digestion, the synthesis of proteins and vitamins, the formation of folic acid). That's why with the onset of infection, an adult notes signs of a lack of vitamin A and carotene( this is premature aging, decreased vision, destruction of bone dental tissue). It is unlikely that anyone connects such symptoms with giardiasis, or with helminthic invasion, therefore, as a rule, the fight against consequences is being conducted, and not with the cause.
- Microscopic parasites are attached to the walls of the intestine by means of a disc. It is equipped with suckers, protozoa in their vegetative form can be detached and move in the space of the lumen. Such actions irritate the nerve endings of the mucosa. Considering the fact that on one square centimeter of the wall of the small intestine of an adult patient can be up to a million lamblia, one can imagine what kind of mechanical damage to the mucous layer they can provoke.
- Signs of acute form of Giardiasis in its initial phase are not detected, the asymptomatic course can last more than two months. During this time, a pronounced edema of the stroma of the villi forms, the basal membrane melts, in due course, entire sections of the destroyed glycocalyx are found. This leads to the appearance of symptoms of the inflammatory process, to the development of atrophic reactions, to the violation of the motor functions of the intestinal tract. The suction disk of the lamblia leaves a characteristic c-shaped trace on the surface of the fringe of the villi. It is difficult to see in the photo, but the presence of a trace is a sure sign of the presence of microscopic parasites in the adult body.
- Mechanical damage to the mucosa becomes the cause of the formation of pathogenic intestinal microflora. Symptoms of dysbacteriosis - a true symptom of the presence of worms or lamblia in the human body. That is why when conducting differential diagnostics it becomes mandatory to conduct a stool analysis for the presence in the feces of protozoan cysts.
- In the process of their life, lamblia produces toxins. The products of their metabolism and decay lead to the appearance of pathological changes in other parts of the intestinal tract. This is why often lambliasis is accompanied in adults and in children with symptoms of dyskinesia of bile-excreting tracts, as well as reactive pancreatitis.
- Fifteen days after infection, there are signs of changes in the liver and in the stomach. Very often giardiasis develops against the background of the secondary infection, which is born on the appendix( appendix). As it looks, you can see on the photo anatomy of a person.
- Toxins are very rapidly absorbed into the intestinal walls and enter the bloodstream, causing symptoms of general intoxication of the body. It can manifest itself in different ways: in the form of dispersion disorders, or in the form of allergic reactions, as seen in the photo.
- The presence of microscopic parasites in an adult patient and in a child burdens the course of already existing diseases. This explains the appearance of symptoms not characteristic of infection. With a similar development scenario, giardiasis passes into protracted stages, significantly undermining the health of adults and children.
Given all this, the pathogenicity of protozoa in scientists is beyond doubt. The presence of a certain clinical picture, a set of recognizable symptoms of a general malaise makes you make the right decision and prescribe adequate treatment.
The main symptoms of Giardiasis
The clinical picture of Giardiasis is polyformnal. It is difficult to find medical histories in which the symptoms of giardiasis were identifiable and described. That is why it became necessary to collect together all the signs of the course of the disease and classify them, bringing them under the common denominator. So the following classification was born:
- Carrying lamblia is a picture in which the presence of flagella inside the intestinal tract does not cause pathogenic reactions( asymptomatic giardiasis).
- Clinically expressed forms: intestinal lambliasis, hepatobiliary form, giardiasis, as a concomitant disease.
To describe the characteristic symptoms of lamblia, clinically pronounced forms are of interest. Let us dwell on them.
Symptoms of intestinal Giardiasis
Intestinal form of the disease in adult patients is diagnosed when the most part of the small intestine is lined. The presence of pathological processes is indicated by signs of duodenitis, symptoms of enteritis and dyskinesia of the duodenum. The patient complains of:
- Severe heartburn.
- Constant nausea.
- Decreased appetite.
- Unstable chair( constipation is replaced by diarrhea).
Another characteristic symptom of giardiasis in adult patients is pain in the stomach region on the right side or moderate pain in the navel area( as seen in the photo).Enteritis is characterized by bloating, the presence of foamy stools, steatorrhea. Often, patients with giardiasis describe the symptoms typical of cholecystitis. Today, scientists tend to believe that microscopic parasites can not affect the gallbladder and liver, but some patients complain of the presence of pain in the right hypochondrium, the presence of bitterness in the mouth, and bitter eructations are positive symptoms of the gall bladder.
Carrying out some diagnostic procedures( ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, for example) allows you to identify the symptoms characteristic of infection, such as hypotension and hypertonicity of the gallbladder sfikter. And these are the true symptoms of cholestasis. How are these studies done, you can see on the video.
Intestinal giardiasis differently manifests itself in patients of different age category:
- For example, if it occurs in two, three-year-olds, the clinical picture is dominated by dyspeptic syndrome and allergic reactions, but the pains of various manifestations( and this is proved by numerous photos)almost always absent.
- In children from four to seven years of age, the intestinal form has dyspepsia and pain. At half of patients pancreatic changes are noted, in one third of patients there are organic lesions of the duodenal zone. They can be seen not in the photo, but in a video that allows you to get an endoscopic examination of the intestine.
- In children aged eight to twelve years, pain symptoms are already registered in 80%.In addition to the symptoms of dyspeptic disorders and functional changes in the pancreas, dangerous erosive defects of the intestinal mucosa are also noted.
A similar picture allows to draw conclusions that the clinical picture of the intestinal form of giardiasis changes with age in the direction of weighting of symptoms and pathological conditions. But that's interesting, at the age of 19 to 24 years in humans, the described disease manifests itself without visible manifestations. Symptoms of duodenitis and enteritis are not noted. But in the absence of treatment in this case, there are symptoms of neurotic changes.
Separately, it is necessary to talk about the forms of giardiasis with the prevalence of allergic symptoms of manifestation in adult patients. When parasitizing huge colonies of flagellar microorganisms, a large number of toxins enter the blood. Slagging of the body leads to the appearance of neurodermatitis, urticaria, indomitable skin itch. Dermatitis is often combined with bronchial asthma, conjunctivitis( see photo), persistent blepharitis. As a rule, all these symptoms in adult patients are treated with the onset of treatment. Knowing how the infection manifests itself, what signs should make you seek medical help, you can try to keep health.
