The incidence of stroke has been steadily increasing in recent years and averages 2-3 cases per 1000 people. More than half of all cases lead to death or permanent disability of the patient. In this regard, the most important link in a doctor's work is to identify risk factors for stroke and work to eliminate them.
Individuals with the following concomitant diseases are at increased risk for this pathology:
- Diabetes mellitus (damage to the arteries and the development of atherosclerosis).
- Smoking.
- Arterial hypertension of any genesis, with a diastolic pressure of more than 100 mm Hg. Art.
- Hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia. Of great importance is not only an increase in the level of total cholesterol, but also an imbalance between lipoproteins of different densities.
- Rhythm disturbances (atrial fibrillation and flutter) increase the likelihood of blood clots (changes in the coagulation properties of blood).
- Mitral valve prolapse.
- Congenital and acquired stenosis of the cranial vessels.
- Alcohol abuse (increased likelihood of cardiovascular disease).
- Physical inactivity and lack of regular physical activity.
- Overweight, accompanied by a violation of fat metabolism and the development of vascular atherosclerosis.
- Long-term use of oral contraceptives in women.
The combination of several factors significantly increases the risk of stroke. Based on the above, proper nutrition with restriction of animal fats, weight control and correction, maintenance of adequate physical activity, rejection of bad habits, regular dispensary examinations, treatment of chronic pathologies of the cardiovascular systems.
