When a high temperature occurs, many parents give their children Nurofen. Unfortunately, this drug, like many others, has side effects. The main side effect is diarrhea. In most cases, the caused diarrhea is not dangerous, but, nevertheless, you need to be careful.
Periodically there are cases of overdose, parents who want to quickly reduce the temperature, give Nurofen, diarrhea appears immediately after the allowed amount of suspension was exceeded.
To avoid overdose, it is necessary to know how much Nurofen can be consumed by a child:
- Babies aged 6 to 12 months can receive only 2.5 milliliters of suspension at a time. For one day a drug can be taken 3 times. At a strong temperature it is allowed to increase the number of receptions up to 4 times a day;
- For children from 1 to 3 years, a single dose of Nurofen is equal to 5 milliliters. The drug is used 3 times a day;
- From 4 to 6 years at a time you can use 7.5 milliliters. The medication is taken up to 3 times a day;
- For children from 7 to 9 years, a single dosage of Nurofen is equal to 10 milliliters;
- From 9 to 12 years at a time you can consume 15 milliliters of the drug.
You need to be very careful with the dosage of the drug, so that there is no diarrhea or more serious consequences. With excessive use of Nurofen, in addition to diarrhea, the following symptoms may appear:
- Acute abdominal pain;
- Inhibit;
- Depressive state;
- Sleepy state;
- Noises in the ears;
- Tachycardia;
- Convulsions.
To avoid these symptoms, you need to rinse the stomach urgently. Flushing should be performed within 60 minutes after using the medication. Also, enterosorbent and symptomatic therapy are prescribed. If the seizures last for a long time, it is best to use Diazepam or something like that.
It is important to know that Nurofen easily cope with the temperature, but there are times when it is better to neglect the drug:
- Allergic reaction to acetylsalicylic acid;
- When urticaria and bronchial asthma occur;
- If the patient suffers from a gastrointestinal ulcer;
- Diseases of the blood are also contraindications;
- Diarrhea up to 10 times a day;
- With renal failure.
Regarding pregnancy, during this period, Nurofen should be taken only after the doctor has prescribed it to avoid the risk of severe diarrhea, which will harm the health. It is necessary that the doctor acquainted with the state of health and prescribed a dosage.
