Alkaline reflux gastritis

Diseases of the stomach are increasingly affecting different categories of people. There are enough reasons for this. Accordingly, and the forms of manifestation, too.

What is an alkaline gastritis? This is the name of the syndrome, due to which the duodenal contents systematically enter the stomach.

Physiologically alkaline gastritis does not refer to the state of the norm, and it gives some inconvenience. The syndrome begins to develop, usually after surgery. Promote this:

  • gastrectomy;
  • distal gastrectomy;
  • antrumectomy;
  • dissection of the stomach for pyloroplasty;
  • gastroenteroanastomosis;
  • reception of some medicament;
  • insolvency of sphincters.

The mechanism of the course of alkaline reflux gastritis

If we recall some of the anatomical and physiological data, then the food, before entering the intestine, goes through a staged treatment in the stomach:

  1. From the esophagus, it enters it through the sphincter, which then closes.
  2. In the digestive organs, food is split under the influence of gastric juice. And in the upper parts of it Ph has higher indicators than in the lower ones.

  3. When the food has advanced to the antrum part of the stomach, the esophageal sphincter enters the lumen of the duodenum.
  4. If it is weak and does not close completely or for some reason opens again - then the half-digested bile and enzymes are lumped again into the stomach. This is called reflux.

Forms of alkaline gastritis

Depending on the nature of the cast, gastritis is isolated:

  • With biliary reflux.
  • With duodenal reflux.

In the first case, this is due to the transfer of bile from the intestine into the stomach. In the second - there is a partial return of the food lump from the duodenum.

Symptoms of alkaline gastritis

Very rarely patients complain of discomfort. Most alkaline reflux gastritis does not manifest itself. If there are symptoms, they do not worry the patient so much that he decided to turn to the gastroenterologist. At later stages of the development of the disease are characterized by:

  1. Pain in the pitcher.
  2. Regurgitation.
  3. Vomiting with an admixture of bile or in its pure form.
  4. Weight reduction.
  5. Lack of appetite. Alternating diarrhea with constipation.
  6. Sensation of overeating after taking a small amount of food.
  7. The taste of bitterness and characteristic belch.

In the absence of treatment of alkaline gastritis, the gastric mucosa at the outlet is modified, acquiring properties, as in the intestinal. This threatens the risk of degeneration into an oncological process.

Methods for diagnosis of alkaline gastritis

To confirm or refute alkaline reflux gastritis, resort to such methods of research:

  • fibrogastroscopy with the collection of materials for the study;
  • US OBP;
  • to check the acidity level during the day.

Methods of treatment of alkaline gastritis

To get rid of alkaline gastritis, two main methods are used:

  • conservative;
  • operative.

In the first case, it is aimed at:

  • to reduce the increased acidity;
  • protect the gastric mucosa;
  • to reduce the excessive production of hydrochloric acid;
  • normalize the motor;
  • neutralize bile by converting it into a water-soluble form of acid.

This will help reduce the likelihood of reflux. An important role is played by proper nutrition and diet. As with any illness of the stomach, you need to exclude: fried, smoked, salted and spicy food, shop sauces, chocolate, coffee, alcoholic, sweet water and anything that can irritate the stomach in any way. The food should be pleasantly warm. It is better to give preference to liquid and cleaned dishes. The number of meals should not be less than 5 with equal intervals of time between them.

In the second case - resort to surgery, if the above measures did not bring the desired result. Treatment of alkaline gastritis involves not only taking medication and eating restrictions, but also changing the way of life in general, which will positively affect the overall well-being of the patient.
