In the treatment of acute pancreatitis, the doctor tries to simultaneously solve several problems at once:
- to exclude the factors provoking exacerbations of pancreatic inflammation( alcohol, obstruction, drugs);
- to ease the patient's pain syndrome;
- to correct exo- and endocrine insufficiency;
- to pay attention to getting rid of the accompanying disorders.
If we talk specifically about conservative treatment, its main goal is to stop, or( if it is impossible) at least to slow the development of chronic pancreatitis, and also to combat those complications that it can provoke. Depending on the state of the patient's admission to the hospital, the medical treatment of the pancreas can vary, but almost always it includes the following stages:
- Diet;
- Fractional power;
- Reducing the amount of fat consumed to 60 g per day;
- Pancreatic enzymes;
- H2-blockers;
- Non-narcotic analgesics;
- Endoscopic drainage;
- Narcotic analgesics.
- Blockade of the solar plexus.
The fastest and most effective is conservative treatment of the pancreas with a mild pain syndrome. In this case, medicines are often not used to reduce pancreatic secretion - a strict diet is sufficient. However, sometimes enzyme-suppressing therapy is prescribed, since these substances provoke the onset of pain. In order to reduce pressure in the ducts and, consequently, to relieve pain symptoms, pancreatic enzymes are prescribed to a patient with inflammation of the pancreas.
In some cases( according to indications) the drug treatment of pancreatitis consists in the use of a combination of enzymes and H2-histamin blockers. Doses are selected strictly individually, while such treatment is reviewed by the doctor every day for the purpose of correction.
Medications used in conservative therapy are also selected strictly individually for each patient. It can be both capsular enzymes, and microgranular forms, which are characterized by a greater speed of action. Drug therapy with these drugs contributes to the elimination of diarrhea associated with the fact that inflammation of the pancreas impairs the absorption of fats. It should be noted that although these methods have already proved their effectiveness many times, in some cases, in particular, when alcoholic pancreatitis is severe, they are absolutely useless. Moreover, sometimes not only medicamentous, but also surgical treatment of such patients does not bring a significant result and does not allow to fully preserve the functions of the pancreas.
Conservative therapy is also the use of analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antispasmodics. In order for the moment not to be missed and these methods were sufficient, it is important to contact the doctor in time, with a view to detecting the inflammation of the pancreas as soon as possible, and also timely and effectively conducted therapy. To this end, the main task of each patient with such a diagnosis is full adherence to the prescriptions and recommendations given by the doctor, as well as regular examinations in the strictly prescribed terms prescribed by the doctors. This is the only way to prevent surgical intervention.
