Right-sided colitis is a serious disease accompanied by inflammation of the cecum. This disease develops very slowly and most often occurs due to problems with bowel evacuation. Long-term presence of feces in the intestine promotes the development of its flora. As a result, the patient may develop symptoms of intoxication of the body. The cause of right-sided colitis can be infectious diseases and the further development of infection through the body.
The main sign of right-sided colitis is severe pain in the right side of the abdominal region, which can move to the lower back or right leg. Patients with a violation of the stool, and this can be constipation or diarrhea. Often with right-handed colitis there is also a normal stool. Palpation of the cecum causes acute pain.
Other symptoms of right-sided colitis - raspiranie in the abdomen, eructation, rumbling, nausea and loss of appetite. With exacerbation, the cecum is very tense and painful, becoming more compact and moving.
In addition, signs of complication of the disease can be:
- inflamed retroperitoneal tissue;
- developing incompetence of the blindly ileal intestine.
To prevent the development of symptoms of right-sided colitis urgent medical diagnosis is necessary. An X-ray examination of the intestine is performed, with the help of which a change in the lumen of the cecum can be detected. A characteristic sign of the disease is a shortened or deformed caecum. For right-sided colitis, a change in the mucosa of the intestinal wall is characteristic. There may be ulcers and erosions on the surface of the cecum.
With a coprological examination of the patient, an increased content of muscle fibers, starch and fiber can be found, and a small amount of fat is observed.
Right-sided colitis by symptoms can be confused with appendicitis. In addition, very often these two diseases develop simultaneously, which makes diagnosis difficult.
For the treatment of the intestine it is necessary to use antibiotic drugs and try to reduce the existing intoxication with the help of infusion therapy. The diet should match the disease, so as not to aggravate the inflammation. Thermal procedures and bowel massage should have a beneficial effect on the patient and improve his condition. Correctly provided treatment procedures are capable of giving noticeable positive results.
